Scripture
God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be held in reverence by all those around Him. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Mercy and truth go before Your face. Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O LORD, in the light of Your countenance. ~ Psalm 89:7, 14-15
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever. ~
Psalm 111:10
Prayer
Holy Father in heaven, let us humble ourselves today before Your throne of righteousness and mercy and grace. Let us bow down in reverent fear before You that our hearts will melt with repentance and our minds will be receptive to Your wisdom, which is Truth. Let us walk in Your light and be the light to the world as we do Your Commandments which are good before Your eyes. Amen.
Testimony
On our kitchen counter we have a small rock with the words carved into it that read: “If life makes it too hard to stand, then get on your knees.” It’s a true statement that is also wisdom because the prayers of the righteous avail much. But we also like to remind ourselves that even when things aren’t hard, or in fact, when things are going fantastic, it’s never a bad thing to reach out in prayer to our Father. It’s just a matter of respect to be in awe of His power, His love, His penchant for doing the impossible and His compassion for our situations in life. Whether we are begging Him or thanking Him it’s always wisdom to reverently fear Him, especially from a kneeling position.
Wisdom
The worst fear of all is losing the fear of God.
