Humility Before the Lord
by:
Scripture
“I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You. Therefore I abhor myself, And repent in dust and ashes.” ~ Job 42:5-6
Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. ~ Acts 2:37-38
Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent. ~ Revelation 2:4-5
Prayer
Holy Father in heaven, let us start today with the humility that we felt the first time we fell in love with You; the first time we felt the magnitude of the cross; the first time we experienced the cleansing of the Holy Spirit. Let us be cut to the heart today and remember our love for You (Matthew 22:37), that we will extend that love to those we encounter (Matthew 22:38) and carry our daily cross of conviction, enduring to the end, with the humbleness of knowing how much we are loved by You (John 3:16-17). Amen.
Testimony
Like in the parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:1–23, Mark 4:1–20, Luke 8:4–15) we can allow the things of this world to distract us away from the cross of Jesus Christ. We must slow down and sometimes even stop, that we will remember the first time we fell in love with the Lord and fight our way back to a place of intimate relationship with Christ that we will be fruitful for His coming Kingdom.
Wisdom
Don’t be a stranger to God. Give our Lord some of your time every day, because He loves hearing from You, even just to say hello.
