Resting From the World in Christ
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. ~
Psalm 23:1-3
If you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Do not be afraid of sudden terror or of the ruin of the wicked, when it comes, for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught. ~
Proverbs 3:24-26
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” ~
Matthew 11:28-30, 12:8
Holy Father in heaven, let us find rest today in a weary world. Let us trust in Your command to rest, and lie down in the peace of our Lord, restoring our souls in Your righteousness. Let our sleep be sweet and our confidence be in the love of our Savior, Yeshua Messiah, the Lord even of the Sabbath. Amen.
We were blessed with a day of rest by the Lord because He knew that we would work ourselves to death, physically and spiritually, if He didn’t. It was never made for a God who never rests or tires, but rather for His greatest creation who always seems to be obsessed with doing something. He made it holy, a specific day, that we would stop, remember where our blessings come from, give Him praise and glory, and fully recharge to properly face the world and all of its distractions. Let’s make our day, that wonderful gift from our Lord, about Him and find rest for our souls.
