At his Jan 2025 Senate confirmation hearing, Sec State Rubio advises the Foreign Relations committee on the dangers of Chinese corporations controlling both ends of the Panama Canal. It was apparently at the top of his agenda when he took office. The strategic value is somewhat obvious should global conflict arise. Besides, we built it.
