While it is completely true that wars will jack up the price of gas, especially in an area with such important shipping lanes, it seems that California might have an even bigger role on the price. As said by General Holt and the others, as refineries in California shut down, it won’t matter how much oil we have shipped in, we cannot turn it into gas. Cali’s once-robust oil refining capacity has just disappeared due to overregulation and taxation. The amount of contingent shutdowns for lack of petrol include the ports themselves and diesel/airline fuel that will cascade into AZ, NV, etc….
